Jangchub Chorten Inaugurated

Pangbisa, Bhutan – August 16, 2025 — A Jangchub Chorten was inaugurated today at Dungkar Estate, blessed with the name Dungkar Kora, in a ceremony attended by Dasho Arun Kapur, Director of the Druk Gyalpo’s Institute (DGI), Tenzin Jamtsho, Managing Director of Dungkar Estate, staff and students of DGI, members of DE, residents, and family members. The event was presided over by the venerable Lama of Ugyen Guru Lhakhang.

The Jangchub Chorten, one of the Eight Great Stupas of Buddhist architecture, symbolizes the Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment under the Bodhi tree. Its form; square base, rounded dome, and ascending spire, represents the stages of awakening, embodying the Buddha’s enlightened mind.

In Bhutan, stupas are focal points of devotion, offering blessings and spiritual merit to those who circumambulate them in the traditional kora. The new Dungkar Kora at Dungkar Estate is envisioned as a place for prayer, meditation, and community gatherings.

As ceremonial lamps were lit and mantras recited, the inauguration became a celebration of joy, and cultural continuity, marking Dungkar Kora as a lasting symbol of mindfulness and compassion.
